SiPMs

Excelitas' low light level detection portfolio now includes low-noise, ultra-fast timing resolution, low-cross-talk Silicon Photomultipliers or Silicon Photomultiplier Modules (SiPMs). These arrays of parallel, interconnected avalanche photodiodes (APDs), operated in a voltage range above the breakdown voltage, provide high Photon Detection Efficiency (PDE) from near UV to NIR wavelengths. SiPMs operate at extremely high gains and are sensitive to optical powers of as little as 0.1pW.

SiPMs allow multiple photons to be detected and counted within the same timeframe, and offer high linearity and high dynamic range. One of the biggest advantages of SiPMs - as compared to traditional photomultiplier tubes (PMTs) – is their high immunity to electromagnetic fields.

Excelitas’ SiPM chips are suited to high-volume applications in:

Excelitas' LynX Silicon Photomultiplier Module delivers high responsivity, high dynamic range, high linearity and an excellent S/N ratio.

LynX is a compact, easy to use analogue low light level detection module employing Excelitas' leading edge C30742 SiPM chip in a hermetically sealed TO-8 package with thermoelectric cooler.
